Hassan Meer embarked on his artistic journey by pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art with a specialization in Media Art from the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, USA. He further honed his skills and expanded his horizons by obtaining a Master's degree in Art in 2000.
During his formative years as a student, Meer gravitated towards video and installation art as mediums to convey his ideas. In 2000, Hassan Meer spearheaded the Circle Show, a pioneering initiative aimed at promoting and encouraging the burgeoning field of contemporary art in Oman and the wider region. Through this platform, Meer played a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant artistic community and providing opportunities for emerging talents to showcase their work.
As the artistic director of Stal Gallery & Studio, Meer continues to champion young Omani artists by establishing impactful initiatives such as the "Circle of Experimenting Art" program and the "Stal Young Emerging Art Prize." Hassan Meer has an international contemporary art presence through the variety programmes. His artworks are held in many public and private collections in Oman and around the Globe. Between September-October 2012, Hassan Meer undertook a residency programme at the Delfina Foundation in London. His exhibitions include: 8th Sharjah International Biennale, UAE (2013); Arab Express, Mori Art Museum, Tokyo (2012); Work Marry Remember, AB Gallery, Zurich (2012); Reflections, Stal Gallery (2013); Fotofest Biennial, Houston, Texas (2014) and All Silent for the buzzing Royal College of Art Galleries, Kensington, London (2014). 14th Curitiba International Biennial of Contemporary Art 2019, Brazil; Christie’s (2019); National pavilion of Sultanate of Oman at 59th International Art Exhibition, Venice BiennaleArte 2022; Splendore Unique (Rolex), 2022, Sotheby’s Auction 2025, and more.
